Smart Pregnancy Services

Smart Pregnancy Services assists families in achieving a joyful and satisfying birth experience through a combination of midwifery care for pregnancy and birth, doula care for hospital delivery, and childbirth classes.  We also assist other women to achieve their goals in becoming a midwife or doula.

For the Expectant Couple:  Midwifery services are provided for home birth, birth center birth, and water birth.  Doula care is also available for couples seeking to birth in a hospital setting.  Childbirth education classes are tailored to meet the family's needs and focus on natural childbirth, good health through nutrition and exercise, good decision making skills, and preparations for birth. Coming soon, Smart Pregnancy Services will be offering childbirth education classes with Under the Apple Tree Christian Childbirth studies.

For Midwifery Education students: Midwifery Education is provided through Dar la Luz Midwifery Studies, a direct entry midwifery program that has been approved by the SC Midwifery Advisory Council to DHEC for the training of Licensed Midwives.  It has a Christian emphasis with service projects included along with a rigorous midwifery study.

For Certified Doulas / Labor Support students:  Doula training is provided on a quarterly basis in a workshop format which has been approved by CAPPA for labor doula training.  The workshop is the main portion of the certification process.  Book readings, childbirth class attendance, labor attendance, and an ending exam complete the certification process and can be viewed on www.cappa.net.
